Hey there! I’m Rhoma, and I’m the “Sassy” of Sassy Doodles of Georgia. I’ve been an animal lover my whole life, but have always felt like dogs were truly one of God’s greatest gifts to us. Their unconditional love is what gives them the innate ability to be heart healers, smile makers and life changers. I personally experienced my first “heart healer” after an unexpected and tragic pregnancy loss. My husband knew my heart needed something special, so he gifted me with my first heart healer, Pepper. She was a tiny Yorkshire Terrier, but had the heart of a lion. She was the best constant companion that I never knew I needed. Several years later, we added our GSD, Reagan (aka “BossDog”) to our family. She was my first experience owning a really BIG dog but I immediately enjoyed her ability to go and do any and everything our busy family was doing. Pepper was diagnosed with cancer when she was 9.5 years old, and after surgeries and complications, we lost her just before her 12th birthday...and I found myself heartbroken, once again. While we had many different pets over the years, we also had four very active children and my husband and I both worked full-time. I was a childcare provider for 25 years, allowing me to be home with all my children until they grew up and left the nest. So being a caregiver comes naturally to me...it is my “gift.” Since my three oldest children were grown and flown, and after losing Pepper, I felt like something was missing. After meeting and falling in love with several doodles, my daughter and I researched like crazy to learn more about their incredibly sweet dispositions and adorable good looks. And as I do with most everything in my life, I turned my Goldendoodle search into a full blown Goldendoodle research project! And also as we tend to do, my daughter and I decided that we needed not one, but TWO...one for each of us! In all my research, and remembering how I’d always dreamed of breeding Pepper, it was almost a light bulb moment when my daughter and I decided that these two “unknown” (at the time) puppies we were searching for would be OUR heart healers and the origin of our breeding stock. Over the course of the next few months, and about 1,000,000 questions later, we found our perfect babies to bring home and love. We found our breeder online and she was about 6 hours away. A very long day trip later, we brought our program foundation babies home...Belle and Bailey, F1 English Cream Goldendoodles. Since that time, I have spent much time researching and watching any and everything I could get my hands on to learn how to ethically breed healthy, well adjusted doodle puppies. And here we are today! We are so excited to share our Doodle love with others, and bring joy to the lives of others, through the power of a dog! And while Goldendoodles were the first doodles to lure us in, we have already started research and planning to add a mini Bernedoodle female to our program later this year. Thanks for reading the “who” and “why” of Sassy Doodles of Georgia. I hope you’ll join us on our exciting adventure and maybe even join our FURever family with a Sassy Doodle of your own! Heart Healers. Smile Makers. Life Changers.
